What is LA Photo Tour?

LA Photo Tour was designed by the LACVB to provide media, meeting/incentive planners, and travel professionals assistance in portraying Los Angeles visually in print materials for their business. The images included in LA Photo Tour have been selected to reflect the vibrancy, uniqueness, and the beauty of the City of Los Angeles and surrounding areas. The images are for the explicit use of promoting Los Angeles for approved users only.

If you would like to request access to LA Photo Tour, click on New Member Login from the Home Page and complete the form. Access is approved and assigned by the LACVB within 24-hours of request (excluding weekends and holidays). Once you sign in, you will be able to view the images and make your selection.

What are the software and browser requirements needed to enjoy LA PhotoTour?

LA Photo Tour is compatible with Netscape 4.0 or higher and Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher. Visit your browser's Web site to download the latest version. A monitor resolution of 800x600 pixels (or higher) is recommended. To enjoy LA Photo Tour at its fullest capacity, you will also need the latest Macromedia Flash Player (available for free at www.flash.com). It only takes a few seconds to download and will greatly enhance your viewing experience.


What is the best way to enjoy this site if I am an AOL (America Online) user?

The best way to enjoy LA Photo Tour while using AOL is to minimize the AOL window and open your external browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator). If you stay in AOL, use the vertical and horizontal scroll bars along the right side and bottom of the AOL Web browser to view the entire page.


How does the Search work?

We encourage you to search images by region, category, photographer, or keyword. Your selection will display a thumbnail gallery of photos available for viewing with an option to add images to the Lightbox for downloading. Each thumbnail is available for viewing in a larger format by simply clicking on the image.


What is the Lightbox?

The Lightbox is a shopping cart of images you have selected from Search or the Photo Collections section. Click on the Lightbox link at any time to view images selected, delete images (if necessary), or download.


Sometimes when I add photos to the Lightbox, they don't appear. Can you explain why this happens?

Depending on your browser setting, some browsers will cache the Web pages. Since our Lightbox is a dynamic page, you will need to ensure that caching is turned off in your browser.


When I'm in LA Photo Tour for a period of time with no activity, the program will revert back to the Home Page. Why must I log in again?

The system caches your login and Lightbox for only a certain period of time. It will be necessary to re-login when this period of time has expired.


How do I receive images that I request to license?

Once you have finalized your images to download, you can proceed to Checkout. Images are compressed to permit efficient downloading. Once your image selection has been downloaded, you will need a zip program to unzip the file. Zip programs are available for download through the internet. Several zip programs can be found at http://www.winzip.com/ or http://www.free-software-downloads.org/.

Copyright information, photographer credit and trademark language (if applicable),will be imbedded with each image in formats, IPTC and EXIF.

Copyright information and photographer's credit must appear adjacent to any image you decide to use. Trademark language must be contained within or adjacent to the appropriate trademark image.



Who owns the rights to these images?

In most cases, the photographer maintains the rights to his/her image.
